Introduction

This broad appeal lecture is based in part on the reults of research in Northern Ireland of the possibility of buying a nut free meal for a peanut allergenic consumer. Because of the findings the paper was titled "Food-allergy-Gambling your life on a take-away meal". Aspects of the law relating to the sale and labelling of food containing allergens and their analyses will be discussed.
