Introduction
Âé¶¹AV Meet the Editors are specially curated programs by the Editors and Publishing team, aimed to provide researchers with a platform to interact and engage with experts from India & International board members.​ The platform offers researchers (mostly early career) an opportunity to gain insights on: tips on writing research papers, how to publish with maximum impact, and insights on Âé¶¹AV’s peer review process.

Our panel of expert speakers will talk about their research work, recent trends in the journal, and emerging research ideas to gear researcher in every stage of their career and strengthen their publishing journey. In addition to providing you a transparent view into the life cycle of a manuscript, we will also share tips around how to submit your research paper, things to keep in mind while submitting your manuscript and various Âé¶¹AV Journals that are available for you to explore to publish.

Dr. Laura Fisher, Âé¶¹AV, United Kingdom

Dr. Laura Fisher is an Executive Editor for Âé¶¹AV Advances, Âé¶¹AV Mechanochemistry, and Âé¶¹AV Pharmaceutics at the Âé¶¹AV (Âé¶¹AV). She joined the Âé¶¹AV in 2014 and previously worked as Publishing Editor and then Deputy Editor for the journals Soft Matter, Polymer Chemistry, Biomaterials Science, Reaction Chemistry & Engineering, and MSDE.
She holds a master's degree in chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, where she studied Hâ‚‚, COâ‚‚, and Nâ‚‚ adsorption in metal-organic frameworks. After leaving Bath she completed a postdoc at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, before leaving research to begin a career in publishing.
She is also an advocate for improving inclusion and diversity in publishing and worked on updating the Âé¶¹AV’s author name changes policy, as well as acting as an inclusion and diversity representative within the organisation. She also has a keen interest in publishing ethics, having played a major role in the Âé¶¹AV’s paper mills investigation during 2020.


Dr Donna Arnold, University of Kent, United Kingdom

Dr Donna Arnold is Senior Lecturer in Chemistry and Forensic Science at the University of Kent. Her PhD, undertaken at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, focussed on the structure and electronic properties of porous manganese oxides. She has since worked at the Foundation for Research and Technology in Crete and undertaken postdoctoral research at the University of St Andrews. Her research on functional nanomaterials at University College Cork earned her national recognition for her role in the design of the first patterned substrates manufactured by Intel to meet key research needs.


Professor Dalip Kumar, Birla Institute of Technology And Science Pilani, India

Professor Dalip Kumar is a Senior Professor of Chemistry at Department of Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He received his Ph. D degree from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana in 1997. After his doctorate, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Sam Houston State University, TX, USA, University of Texas at Austin, USA and University of Maryland, College Park, USA. In 2004, Professor Kumar joined BITS Pilani as an Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry. He has been involved in research for the last 25 years and in teaching for 17 years. As a result of his research accomplishment, he has around 130 international publications in peer reviewed journals. He has guided thirteen Ph.D students and currently he is supervising nine Ph.D. students. He has one US patent, one Indian patent and handled several projects from DST, DRDO, UGC, CSIR, DBT and DST-JSPS. Birthday Commemoration Medal and Prize-2015 (Indian Chemical Society). For year 2018, he has been chosen to deliver Platinum Jubilee Award Lecture by Indian Science Congress Association. Currently he serves as an Associate Editor of Chemistry & Biology Interface Journal published by Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists, Lucknow. He is life members of Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Chemical Society, Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists, and Indian Council of Chemists. His current research pursuit is focused on synthesis of indole and porphyrin derived potential anticancer agents by employing transition-metals and organoiodine reagents. Bronze Medal-2017 (Chemical Research Society of India) and Prof. R. D. Desai 80th. Professor Kumar is recipient of Honorary Diploma for Scientific Achievements and International Scientific Collaboration-2013 (Russian International Charitable Foundation “Scientific Partnership”, Moscow, Russia)


Professor Vandana Bhalla, Guru Nanak Dev University, India

Professor Vandana Bhalla obtained her PhD from Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in 1998. She is currently working as a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Her area of research includes the development of supramolecular functional materials, catalysis, and photocatalysis. She has published around 215 research papers in international journals and has received a number of prizes including the Thomson Reuters Research Excellence India Citation Award 2015, the Prof S. S. Sandhu Endowment Award 2017, and the AV Rama Rao prize for women in Chemical Sciences.


Professor Akhila K Sahoo, University of Hyderabad, India

Professor Akhila K. Sahoo was born in 1972 at Bhubaneswar (Odisha), India. He completed doctoral study at the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune under the supervision of Prof. Ganesh Pandey in 2001.
He worked as a postdoc researcher at the RWTH-Aachen-Germany with Prof. Hans-Joachim Gais (2002), Prof. Tamejiro Hiyama, Kyoto University, Japan (JSPS; 2002-2004), and finally with Prof. Atsuhiro Osuka, Kyoto University (2004-2006). He then worked as a scientist at the Sai Advantium Pharma Limited (2006-2007), Hyderabad.
He then joined the School of Chemistry [Assistant Professor (2007-2012), Associate professor (2013-2016)] University of Hyderabad. Currently, he is working as Professor. His research interest revolves in the development of novel transformations on metal-catalyzed C-H activation, Au-catalyzed synthetic methods, and construction of strained N, and O-rich energetic materials. He is a Member of the Âé¶¹AV and Member of the National Academy of Science, India.


Professor Ram K Roy, BITS Pilani, India

Prof. Roy did his Ph.D. in 1996 under the supervision of Prof. Sourav Pal in CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India. His area of Ph.D. work was in conceptual density functional theory (CDFT). He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) in 1997-1998 in the group of Prof. Paul Geerlings. Then he moved to the Dept. of Applied Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo as Intelligent Modelling Laboratory Fellow (1998-1999) and then as JSPS Post-Doctoral Fellow (1999-2001) in the group of Prof. Kimihiko Hirao. He returned back to India in 2001 and joined the Department of Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS-PILANI) as a Lecturer. In 2013 he was promoted to the position of Professor and in 2023 he has become Senior Professor in the same department. He has visited University of Tokyo in summer of 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He also visited RCCS-RIKEN, Kobe in the summer of 2013 and Faculty of Science, Hokkaido University in summer of 2010 (as short term JSPS-Invitation Fellow) and 2023-2024 (as Long term JSPS Invitation Fellow).
Prof. Roy has published 65 peer reviewed research papers in reputed international journals. Some of his notable contributions are on Non-negativity of Fukui Function indices, N-dependence problem of local hardness descriptor, comprehensive decomposition analysis of stabilization energy (CDASE), Charge transfer limit of a chemical adduct, validation of Hammett’s form of Linear free energy relationship (LFER) through CDFT etc. Last few years he is also working on computing reliable photophysical properties as well as mechanism of aggregation induced emission (AIE) active molecules using optimally-tuned range-separated hybrid functional (OT-RSH) and spin-flip time dependent density functional theory (SF-TDDFT).


Professor Buddhadeb Chattopadhyay, IISER Pune , India

Buddhadeb was born and raised in Insura-Hooghly, West Bengal, India. He obtained his B.Sc. (2001) in chemistry from the Burdwan University and M.Sc. (2003) in chemistry from Visva-Bharati University. In 2003, he left Visva-Bharati and enrolled in Kalyani University for his Ph.D. in the laboratories of Professor K. C. Majumdar.
After postdoctoral research work around six years in the USA from 2009 to 2014 (University of Illinois at Chicago, USA and Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA), Buddhadeb started his independent research career at the Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), Lucknow, India, where he is currently holding the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Biological & Synthetic Chemistry.
Buddhadeb's research interest includes the catalyst/ligand engineering for the C–H bond activation/functionalization, especially C–H bond borylations of organic molecules and metal-nitrene/carbene chemistry via metalloradical catalysis.
He was the recipient of the Ramanujan Faculty award (2013), DST Young Scientist Award (2014), Thieme Chemistry Journal Award (2017), SERB-STAR AWARD–2019" (Science and Technology Award for Research), "SERB-TETRA AWARD–2022" (Technology Translation Award), Fellow, National Academy of Sciences, FNASc. (2023) and Fellow of the Âé¶¹AV, London, UK (FÂé¶¹AV) (2024).


Dr Aparna Ganguly, Âé¶¹AV, India

Dr Aparna Ganguly completed her graduation and post- graduation in Chemistry from University of Delhi and subsequently obtained her PhD in Materials Chemistry under the supervision of Professor A. K. Ganguli at IIT Delhi. After a short stint at teaching Physical Chemistry at Central University of Rajasthan, she moved back to the Nanoscale Research Facility, IIT Delhi as a scientist where she worked extensively on porous materials and their applications. In 2014, she joined the Âé¶¹AV where she is currently the Editorial Development Manager and manages the journal portfolio and their growth in India.  As a part of her role, she works quite extensively with the scientific community, various Indian chemical societies, and researchers across various disciplines of Chemical Sciences and support the journal teams.
